Blurb:  Twin souls reunited.

Drew’s always been a fighter: first in martial arts competitions, and now as a dreamcatcher—keeping the people of Seattle safe from spaga attacks that would drain their life force in their sleep. All he has to do to become a full member of Team 32 is complete his first mission.

But the first person he must defend is his ex, Angelo… the only man Drew ever loved, even if he was the one to leave. Drew never got over Angelo, and it seems Angelo might feel the same, despite the heartbreak he suffered at Drew’s hands.

As the chase after a powerful and resourceful caster hits close to home, old feelings resurface. But if Angelo learns of the dreamcatchers, he’ll be a target for the spaga. And how can he trust Drew now that Drew’s keeping bigger secrets than ever?

Review:  Drew is finally a fully fledged dreamcatcher! Then he’s protecting Angelo and it wasn’t supposed to be like this. This is enough to knock Drew off his game. He keeps Angelo safe from the spaga, but he’s also aware he’s still very much in love with the guy he walked away from. Drew decides he’s going to get Angelo back. It’s not as easy as he expected. Angelo isn’t exactly eager to get back with the guy that broke his heart. Then there’s the whole being a dreamcatcher thing. Keeping the world safe from from evil is a full time job. A full time job that can’t be explained to people who have no knowledge of the paranormal world. Drew knows he’s fighting a losing battle. He’ll get the man he’s always loved or the job he’s worked so hard for. Then Angelo shows up where he isn’t supposed to be.

I enjoyed this book, but at the same time felt it bore the burden of world building for a series. At times I felt the exploration of forgiveness and acceptance took a backseat to learning about the magics involved in the story. I liked the magics and the explanations were needed, but yeah. It was a little overwhelming. I really wanted to see more of how Angelo dealt with friends who urged him to move on when he was still in love. I think I also had some issues with Drew’s reasons for leaving. He was so in love he was scared? It made sense as I read it, but as I think back on it that reasoning feels vaguely contrived. People have certainly done dumber things so I won’t say this couldn’t happen, but it simply didn’t resonate with me.

If there’s a next book in this series I’ll definitely be picking it up. Especially since now we know how the dreamcatcher world works. I want to see where things are going. Is this going to turn into an epic battle for humankind? Will it just be a big battle for Seattle? Either way, I want to know where this is going, who else will be involved, and what powers they’re bringing to the party.
