Blurb: Lavender Shores’s resident tattoo artist, Connor Clark, looks the part—six foot six, musclebound, and covered in ink—and most definitely doesn’t blend in. Grafted into the Bryant family as a teenager to escape his abusive father, the Bryants saved his life, but Connor has never truly felt a part of the founding family royalty. And if his heart’s desire were revealed, it would betray everything the Bryants have done for him.
Micah Bryant was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He’s always had everything he ever wanted—save the one he desires most. Even moving to New York City for a few years didn’t dampen his passion. Not that Micah had expected it to. He’s known his destiny since he was nine years old, the moment it had walked through his door.
After years of longing, years of secrets and stolen moments of passion and love, Connor weakens enough to allow the town to see how he feels, and let the Bryants know his love for Micah is anything but brotherly. But no sooner had the decision been made than Connor’s biological family returns and shatters it all. Still, Micah holds on to the belief that their romance was written in the stars, but maybe he’d been wrong all those years….
Review: This is the 5th installment in the Lavender Shores series and I have devoured them. Connor has intrigued me since the first book and each and every book after that my love for him only got stronger. Then I read the blurb at the end of The Shipwreck. I was not a happy camper. Micah and Connor are brothers! I wasn’t going to be too thrilled reading that, but then I stepped back and thought about it rationally. They’re NOT brothers, not really.
If you’ve read books 1-4 you know that Connor Clark came to live with his best friend, Gilbert, and his family after Connor’s family abused him. His father was physical while his mother was a religious fanatic telling him he was going to hell and worse.
Micah Bryant is the youngest Bryant brother. He was 9 when Connor came to live with the family at 13. We’re told that Micah has been in love with Connor since then, but was it only hero worship?
I wanted to see more of the younger days. I wanted to see more of the stolen moments. We dive right into their “relationship” and I wanted it to go slower. You’re probably going to yell at me, because Micah and Connor’s story is so slow. When this story starts Micah is with Seth (until around 45%). I was pretty bummed about this. *There is no on page sex between them*
Connor loves Micah with all of his heart, but he’s terrified of losing his only family. Who blames him? Not me. Then Moses, Connor’s nephew, comes to live with Connor. I needed more of this story, too. How did Moses find Connor? I was kind of lost and I felt like I missed a book or something, but I didn’t.
When Connor “pulled his head out of his ass” it was glorious. I loved how when he was all in he was ALL in! Selfish Micah never had a chance 😉
I need sooo many more stories, like Adrian, Seth, Jasper, Moses, etc.! I’m not ready for this series to end.
