Blurb: Opposites might attract, but is acting on that attraction wise?
Librarian Tristan Cooper can’t steer clear of sexy, motorcycle-riding bad boy Phillip—the man is hot—but Phillip is bound to find quiet, bookish Tristan boring, like all Tristan’s boyfriends. Tristan yearns to explore his wild side, the part of himself he’s only allowed into his fantasies, and maybe rakish Phillip is just what he needs to feel free.
Sexperienced hairdresser Phillip is more of a believer in happy endings than happily ever afters. Experience has taught him not to hope for more—until he meets sweet, vulnerable Tristan, who seems genuinely interested in his heart. But Phillip can’t trust enough to see himself as a man Tristan might want for more than a night.
With the help of a pair of matchmaking grandfathers, Tristan and Phillip might find the courage to step beyond their comfort zones and discover what has been missing from their lives….
Review: This was my first Z. Allora book and thought I would give it a try. I have to admit that this wasn’t my style. I think I’m getting old in my 36 years. I married young (23), but before that I was wild. I’m talking Phillip wild, so why did I get creeped out by his views on sex? Yeah, I’m still wondering, too.
Let me back up here for a minute. First, we have Phillip, a hairdresser with great friends and a commitment issue. He’s on every hookup there is and constantly uses his work breaks for hookups. His friends and co-workers tell him to invest in knee pads. His grandfather lives in the same community as Tristan’s grandfather and thus thrown together. Tristan is a librarian and has been told he’s dull and boring, because he likes sex in bed and routine. Tristan has had exactly 2 relationships and liked being with them both.
Originally, Phillip told Tristan not to change for anybody, but then he turns around and tells Tristan he needs a haircut and new clothes. He’s getting him “clubbing” clothes, new underwear, and contacts, so come doesn’t get on his glasses. Are you serious right now?
I still have no idea what made Tristan want to be with Phillip. Besides Phillip was hot and good in bed, what else was there that attracted Tristan? I don’t know. Because they watched movies together? I didn’t feel the love between these two. Yeah, I saw the sex, but love? No.
Overall, I just didn’t buy into the love story and that’s why I read romance. Your mileage may vary with this one.
