Blurb: To be loved by a dragon is to be treasured.

A hundred years ago, werewolf Alpha Montgomery took a risk driven by desperation—he borrowed money from the ancient dragon Warwick Ehecatl, putting up the pack lands as collateral. Now the debt is due, and dragons don’t forget—or forgive. Warwick demands Montgomery’s son, Avery, and three businesses as compensation. As an Omega, Avery knows he is basically useless to his pack, so he might as well agree. He soon has second thoughts, though. Warwick is fearsome, and he’s free to do as he likes with Avery.

Warwick knows his race’s reputation, and he even admits some of it is deserved. But he’d rather cut off his tail than let his innocent mate’s light go out. It won’t be easy, but buried deep, there’s something between them worth safeguarding.

Review:  I’m the first one to tell you I love shifter books, but dragon shifter books are my jam! This one was definitely right up my alley, but there was still something missing.

100 years prior Alpha Theodore Montgomery asked Warwick Ehecatl for a very large loan of money. Warwick is basically a loan shark and often loans money out to paranormals that need it, but not without collateral or interest.

Fast Forward to today and the money the Alpha owes is due and Surprise! he doesn’t have it. When Warwick comes to collect his dragon goes crazy over the Alpha’s son, Avery. Avery Montgomery is an Omega wolf shifter and is used to being the low man on the totem pole, but he never expects his dad to pimp him out. Avery should have expected it though, because supervised dates? Making sure the Omega is still a virgin for his mate, because they’re worth more? Isn’t that what was basically said?

“But as an Omega, he did have worth, and apparently his parents were looking to cash in on that. They’d allowed him out on dates in the past, but they’d always been supervised.”

“Omegas were kept virgins until they mated. He wasn’t exactly sure why, but it had to do with some silly belief stemming back to the Middle Ages. Supposedly their virginity increased their value as a mate, or some silly nonsense.”

This is where things kind of go south for me. I’m not sure why, but I wanted Warwick to take control right then and there. He’s a dragon! He shouldn’t be catering to a wolf’s mating rituals and accepting a role in the pack. Dragons are so much higher up the food chain; I needed to see more of that. I needed to see Warwick show Theodore that HE was Avery’s Alpha now and Theodore had no more control over Avery. I wanted to see Warwick show some power and have Avery unaffected standing right next to him while his father felt it all. I wanted to see Avery put his father in his place.

I loved Warwick and Avery together. I think my favorite parts were the limo ride to the restaurant and the “scarf”. It was nice to see a big bad dragon being brought down by an Omega.

In the end, there were too many questions left unanswered, so I’m hoping for a 2nd book to answer them.
