Blurb: Violence has been Lochlann O’Connor’s companion since he was born into a family of old-school Irish terrorists. From there he is recruited into Alpha, a secret government agency dedicated to fighting terrorism—with extreme prejudice. Lochlann’s bravery, efficiency, ruthlessness, and the natural deadeye aim that lets him hit anything that moves, quickly make him one of the shadowy organization’s most valued operatives.

Cas Vega joins Alpha because it’s marginally better than a prison sentence. He’s a former drug cartel assassin—or at least that’s his story. But Lochlann is suspicious. Despite an irrational and overwhelming attraction to Cas, Lochlann has questions, and they soon lead to a deeper and deadlier mystery. What is Alpha’s true purpose, and why does it seem they want to eliminate Lochlann?

Lochlann and Cas must work together to get to the bottom of Alpha’s scheme and escape it—and all while Cas keeps secrets that could cost him his life if they’re revealed. But it’s not an alliance that can last. Duty turns the men into enemies, even while fate compels them into each other’s arms. Before they can contemplate which will prevail, they must figure out how to survive.

Review:  I have not read this entire series. I did read the first one so I know the point of this series is that men sell their souls for a chance at revenge. That they live and die over and over until they give mercy to someone you wouldn’t expect them to. Pretty cool concept. This book is non-stop action and intrigue. Lochlann is one of those men who sold his soul, though he doesn’t really know it in this lifetime. He signed up with a secret agency named Alpha. Lochlann thought Alpha was one of the good guys but now he’s not so sure. A new recruit named Cas catches his attention. He doesn’t think Cas is the Sicaro he claims to be. Lochlann should turn him in but his doubts in what Alpha really stands for makes him keep the secret for now.

Cas is an undercover agent placed in hopes Alpha recruits him. When he gets picked to join under the threat it’s that or prison he’s more than happy to play the part of hired killer to gain entry. He recognizes Lochlann right away. Lochlann watches him closely and chooses him as his recruit. Eventually the guys give into their lust. Then Lochlann calls Cas out for not being who he thinks he is. Cas expects to be killed but instead he gains a very unexpected and powerful ally.

I liked this book. There is tons of action. Lots of missions where Lochlann proves what a major badass he is. He is the image of Alpha. A killing machine who does whatever needs to be done. Alpha won’t hesitate to kill him though if they find out he’s thinking of taking them down. Having Cas there means having someone else to support him but also someone to care about. Lochlann struggles with thinking about all the things he’s done. Thinking he’s one of the good guys. That doesn’t mean he can just ignore orders. Things start to happen that he questions and their safety is in question. The romance does feel like a convenient thing. There’s no on page sex so don’t expect it. The romance portion lacks a bit because there’s no intense connection between the guys but there’s so much going on in this book. The over all plot is what kept me turning pages. The entire book is kind of intense. I needed answers! The writing is very good. Lots of battle scenes. Inga was maybe my favorite part of this book. She was so awesome! I’d love to know more about her past and present. If you like spies, secret agencies and tough guys who show their vulnerable once in a while I think I you’ll like this one. Just know what you’re picking up when you do.
