Blurb:  Down on his luck is Gideon Joy’s default state. He doesn’t know why he expected anything different on his cross-country trip, but not surprisingly, the hits keep coming—literally this time. Gideon strikes a moose with his car in New Hampshire, not only totaling his own vehicle, but damaging one belonging to local construction worker Silas Bright. He has no choice but to stay in Lancaster and take a job that’ll pay for the repairs. And in a town so small, Gideon’s always running into Silas. What starts as annoyance between them soon blooms into something much more romantic. But when Gideon’s notorious bad luck rears its head yet again, how many disastrous dates will Silas be willing to weather before realizing Gideon’s not worth it?

Despite Gideon’s desire to remain in the quaint community that has accepted him as one of their own, past fears of inadequacy threaten the very joy he left Los Angeles to discover. If he’s to find a happily ever after with Silas, Gideon must learn that sometimes it’s okay to not be the best. And true happiness might be waiting in a small town nestled among the great White Mountains.

Review:   This book was so cute but not cutesy if that makes sense. It’s one of those books that leaves you feeling really good. It’s light and sweet. Nothing too heavy happens but there is depth to the characters. The MCs are adorable. Gideon is a tattooed covered city boy stranded in a strange town. I was instantly smitten with Silas. He’s the gentle giant sort with a very specific view on the world. He’s big and kind but not a man of many words. You can always count on him to do the right thing and help someone out. Which is how he meets Gideon. Gideon swerves to miss hitting a moose and instead hits Silas. Gideon has no insurance but his conscience won’t let him leave Silas hanging with the repair bills. Silas takes him to a Bed and Breakfast in their quaint little town in New Hampshire. Gideon is determined to find a job. Pay for the damages and move on. The lovable town people embrace him and he finds a place to land he didn’t realize he was looking for.

I think this is a really well written story. There are tropes in this story but they don’t feel forced or cliché thankfully. Gideon and Silas are opposite types. Gideon is from a more material world and jaded. Silas is small town guy and is content with his life. Silas is instantly attracted to Gideon but the way the meet and his quiet nature doesn’t make it known right away. Gideon reads him all wrong. Being a small town the guys are of course going to run into each other. There’s attraction despite Silas not being Gideon’s usual type. The steam level in this one is pretty low but that didn’t bother me at all. The guys are so adorable together. I like how being together brings out the best in them both. I’d definitely recommend checking out this novella. It’s cute and funny with lovable characters. I’d love to read more about Silas and Gideon or anyone who falls in love in this charming little town.
