Blurb:  LA cop Jericho Crewe got the hell out of Mosely, Montana, when he was seventeen. Fifteen years later, he’s back, and everything is just as messed up as when he left. He planned a quick visit to deal with his injured father, but of course things are never that simple. Family complications, police complications, social complications—and, as always, Wade Granger complications.

Jericho and Wade had been so close, once upon a time. First friends, then more than friends—and then, after Jericho’s escape, nothing. Wade’s magnetism hasn’t been lessened by a decade and a half apart; even when Jericho learns that Wade is the prime suspect in the death of Jericho’s father, the old connection still sparks.

When Jericho’s newly discovered half siblings are kidnapped, he needs to trust someone to help him find them. Wade’s a terrible choice, but Jericho’s never been known for his good judgment. Anyway, he’d rather make a bad decision with Wade than a good one with anybody else.

Review: This is the start to an awesome and compelling series about a small town near the Canadian border. A town that hasn’t thrived on it’s own so a portion of the town has turned to crime. I loved how the lines of right and wrong are going to be blurred in this series. There’s a gray area for sure. Some criminals are worse than others. The MC’s were best friends and then lovers in growing up. Now that they’re reunited they are firmly on opposite sides of the law. Both are willing to bend a little when it comes to each other. They’re each the others weakness. The pain and anger are still simmering there from all those years ago when Jericho left Wade. To me this didn’t feel like a novella. The characters were complex. The way all their pasts intertwined were well fleshed out. All while keeping me totally entrenched in the story. I was drawn in from the very first page and didn’t want to put the book down. I loved it!

Jericho is called back to his home town he swore he’d never return to by an unknown woman claiming something has happened to his father. He’s dead. And the local cops, DEA and FBI are all over it for some reason. He also learns he has a step mother and siblings that are being harassed. Jericho’s father was always looking for a way to make money and not the legal way. So Jericho is once again mixed up in his dad’s mess. To further complicate things his ex-lover is somehow mixed up in it too. His attraction to Wade is unlike anything he’s ever experienced and it’s still there after all these years apart. Knowing he’s a criminal and maybe has something to do with the trouble his family is in doesn’t lessen the chemistry between.

Needless to say the tension in this book is FANTASTIC! This is going to be a slow build but there is a very promising love story. The type that sizzles every second of page time between the MCs. There’s so much lurking between them and I can’t wait for the moment they hash it out and give into it. The mystery aspect is great. There’s a ton of action. The story is fast paced. A town full of interesting characters. There’s never a dull moment. I wanted to pick up the next book immediately. This is a great start to a compelling series. From my understanding it will be one book a month released with a total of four so we won’t have long to wait. I loved this and I absolutely recommend it.
