Blurb: From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes her first duo of paranormal romances!
ONCE UPON A TIME…
the most beautiful boy in the world kissed me.
I’ve never been able to forget.
Perhaps it was his jet-black hair,
or the changing copper-color of his eyes,
the intense way he looked at me…
or the fact that he awakened my passion for the first time,
at once otherworldly yet heartbreakingly real.
After that kiss, I never saw him again.
His name was Jack Beauloup.
Jack, my “Beautiful Wolf.”
Twenty years passed.
He has returned.
Review: I feel a lot of things about this story. There are awesome parts and parts that kinda make my skin crawl a little. And I’m not used to that from this author… Which makes me wonder what other talents this lady’s got hidden away? This book will make your cliched ideas about paranormal explode. KP Kelly has created a new world of monsters…
Werewolves? Check. Mixing with humans? Check. Love between the species? Apparently verbotten–with no exceptions. As our hero Jack learns throughout the book, some things he learned as a child in his pack weren’t the shimmering perfection he thought they were. It kind of reminds me of when, as a teenager, you learn your parents are actually flawed. They’ve made mistakes.
Things you once thought inviolate?
Not so true.
Darcy has always felt attached at a very deep level to a boy she’d only known for a year, and only talked to briefly on a couple of occasions. When Jack Beauluop had kissed her that night, it had been incredibly exciting; she’d felt it bone-deep, down to her core. Then Jack disappeared. FOR TWENTY YEARS.
However, she began having visions or, as she called them, going inside, when she’d daydream about the same place while not only sensing Jack’s presence but hearing his voice. So when she saw him again, twenty years later, it was a surprise. Jack wasn’t just in her head, he was actually there–not in her dream, but in real life.
And he wants her to be his.
The romance is sweet and angsty, with a lot of incredible world-building backing it up. When I say that they’ve got a lot of things to settle before they can be together, I mean the author has created a love story that right now I can’t see EVER working. NEVER EVER.
Grab some pearls to clutch and come on in! The water’s deep and steamy, and I’m hoping book two is out soon because…
