Darius Bennett can’t live without supreme control. A self-made billionaire, he’s rich enough to get anything—and any woman—he wants, yet he’s still haunted by a broken relationship. Five years ago, Darius let Taylor Erikson go because he knew he could never give her what she truly wanted: his heart. But the moment Taylor walks back into his life, bruised and beaten, Darius blames himself. To make good on his betrayal, he vows to help her heal—in and out of the sheets.
Once upon a time, Darius was Taylor’s world. Now his fierce embrace is exactly what she needs to get back on her feet. But Taylor pays a heavy price for her sizzling nights with Darius. As the emotional ties become stronger than ever and the paparazzi hunt her down for their next juicy story, Taylor must face some hard truths. They can’t go back. And to move forward, the key to loving Darius isn’t about keeping his secrets—it’s about exposing them.
Review: I really enjoyed the intensity of this latest story from Stacey Kennedy. It had been a while since I’d read this series, and a lot of the time I try not to read the book descriptions so that I can come in fresh, per se. So I was surprised when I remembered the BDSM life style that runs through these books. However, there’s barely any in there, so if you’re not a fan I think you could read it with very little trouble.
Darius is a coldly calculating businessman who is mainly interested in making money. That’s how his father raised him after his mother left. Abandoned him is more how his father put it. But there’s one easy he’s different from his dad–when his half sister (from his mom) came looking for him when his mother died, he didn’t send her away. He didn’t look at her as an imposition, he saw her as someone to protect, someone who was his. Luckily so because the heroine of this story, the woman he loves, is her best friend.
Taylor had been in love with Darius since she was a teenager. He’d sent her away for her own good because he felt that she could do so much better… And that when she wanted more than a sexual relationship, he’d fail her because he wasn’t capable of more.
But five years later, when she showed back up in town with fresh bruises from her ex, he had to get involved. But would he break her heart all over again by pulling back and clamming up? Let’s hope not!
Stacey Kennedy has a unique writing style that combines naughty into nice relationships with a twist of true love thrown in to the mix. This series is pretty hot!
