Blurb: All his life, people have told Jamie Cole that he was born bad. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not. But that doesn’t matter now. Because after a lifetime of demons, Jamie has finally found an angel.
Ellie Pearce learned the hard way that boys can’t be trusted. But the night she meets Jamie, something shifts. He’s different: brooding, a bit dark, determined to change. The connection they share is intense, compelling. Ellie tries to resist, but with each breathtaking kiss, she can’t help falling deeper.
Things between Ellie and Jamie are perfect-and perfection can’t last. When fate goes horribly wrong, Jamie’s only hope of saving his family is to strike a deal with the devil. Most of all, Jamie wants to prove he’s the person Ellie believes him to be. But if she learns just how much he’s been hiding, Ellie won’t be able to believe anything Jamie has ever told her . . .
The original Wattpad sensation – fully revised and with brand new content
Review: First off, huge disclaimer. I have an 18-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son, so this hit all my parenting buttons. While I was enjoying the story of young love and abusive or ill-informed parenting, it was at times hard to separate the parent from the romance reader–there were definite squick moments. Suffice it to say, the boarding house scene….ewwwww.
But I’m always a proponent of self-awareness and powering up self-esteem in teens, so a lot of the story hit home. Especially for the male character, Jamie. I could fell his dissociation and his longing to belong, to have all the things Ellie had–a family, a home, people who cared about him. A future.
Ellie was sweet and very accepting of Jamie and his issues. However, would she be able to handle his truths? I found her to be incredibly naive, even if it was in a nice way, and I cringed at her insouciance at entering the scary boarding house! Yikes!
Will Ellie freak when she finds out about Jamie’s past. And will Jamie find a way forward to his new future. Read it and find out!
