Blurb: In a powerful, smoldering novel from the bestselling authors of the Caldwell Brothers series (“Bad boy heroes to die for!”—Tracy Wolff), two tortured souls team up to overcome the past, finding the courage to heal . . . and to love.
Jason “Cobra” Stanley was born to fight. With a father like his, he had to toughen up just to survive. Now Cobra tries to take out all of his frustration, all of his anger, and all of his pain in the MMA cage. But after he receives one too many hits to the head during a match, the cycle of violence comes to a screeching halt. Cobra wakes up in the hospital, under the care of a nurse whose blond hair shines like a halo—and whose pure heart touches him on the deepest level.
Lorraine Bosch is a fighter too. The lone survivor of a chilling family tragedy, she prides herself on remaining professional, despite the chaos of the ER. But Cobra is the ultimate distraction. Lorraine knows she should run away screaming from his rippling muscles and shattered psyche. And yet how can she deny this broken man a second chance—especially since she knows exactly what he’s been through? Lorraine’s used to playing guardian angel. Now it’s her turn to find heaven in Cobra’s arms.
Review: This sexy and sweetly endearing romantic suspense gave great story on many levels. While it was relatively simple compared to some of my latest reads, I found it easy on my heart and mind while still conveying as much heat and anguish as needed.
I really enjoyed the Caldwell Brothers series buy these authors and this book involved the spin-off of a secondary character. Jason Stanley, known as the MMA fighter Cobra, had slowly been getting disillusioned with the relationship he was having with his girlfriend Missy. They just brought out the worst in each other. Luckily for him, he was able to end it pretty quickly but due to that one failing so badly, he felt convinced that because of his past, that he was doomed to be a bad guy, someone who hurt women like his father. He was entranced when he met his Angel at the hospital after getting beaten up in an illegal fight, but he was really surprised to put her together with the hot number he’d hooked up with at his sex club. Hire in the world did those two connect. Were they friends?
Lorraine Bosch was in a world of hurt. Nurse by day, terrified victim at night. Was there any way she’d ever be able to solve the mystery of who had killed her family? Clinging to that one idea was the only way she’d stayed sane, but it was becoming more and more difficult.
When these two get together, Jason’s so concerned that he’s the problem that he misses the signs that her problems are getting worse until it’s almost too late…
I really like these MMA stories and the ending was wonderful for both. Thanks
