Blurb:  My name is Jamie Atwood, and I am an idiot. Against all odds, I got the attention of Michael Kage, the hottest MMA fighter on the planet. To say he rocked my world would be an understatement. He transformed me completely, made me depend on him, and made me love him. And the sex? Let me put it this way: I’d never been with a guy before I met Kage, but I’d gladly spend the rest of my life on my knees for him. He is my obsession and my addiction. But I did something stupid, and now I’m paying for it. I don’t know if I’ll ever see Kage again.

Being Michael Kage was never easy. Too many demons, too much anger, and not enough to live for. And then I met Jamie Atwood. He’s got this innocence about him that speaks to something deep down inside me- in a place that’s never been touched by anyone. He’s beautiful, smart, and courageous, and he hasn’t been tainted by the darkness that’s ruled my life. I wanted him from the first second I laid eyes on him. It’s selfish, I know. Because you can’t bring an innocent thing into the darkness and not expect something to rub off.

Review:  Anxious. The beginning of this book had me anxious in that totally romantic way where you’re hoping that the guys get it together. Especially after the way the first book ended in a brutal cliffhanger. Jamie and Kage don’t make it easy on the reader at all but the anticipation was deliciously wicked. I was practically buzzing as I speed read my way to their reconciliation. I’m again impressed with the amazing tension delivered. Break ups can be frustrating but this was handled so well. It’s used as a growing experience. We get to know the characters a little better and losing each other seems to make them realize how much they mean to each other.

In this book we get Kage’s POV! I love being in his head. His character is fascinating to me. His entire life has lead up to this chance at a real MMA fight. Last thing he needs to be doing is pining away for Jamie after the way he was treated. There’s also guilt at his own actions at the end of book 1 but he’s resolved to not be with someone who isn’t proud to be with him. I love Kage’s struggle with career goals versus finally finding someone to love. The romantic part of me melts when big tough Kage is willing to flip off the world if it means he gets to be with Jamie. Jamie won’t let him though with his chance at stardom so close. He’s fine with keeping their secret a little longer. Kage knows how good he is at fighting. He doesn’t lose in the cage. That’s something that can’t be denied. Jamie knows publicity is a big part of it though. Kage also doesn’t like all the BS media stuff that goes with being a big time MMA fighter. So everyone else has to do the worrying for him.

This book had some hilarious moments. I laughed out loud frequently. Jamie and Kage get some time to be playful and enjoy each other before reality creeps back in. There’s a do over with Jamie’s family that is fairly shocking. Kage’s scary and powerful uncle tries to tighten the reigns on the boys. Everything they do is being watched. Kage has been manipulated for too long. He’s taking his own destiny in his hands. Sadly his tragic past just won’t let him be happy. Kage being such a volatile character makes the situation more intense. Throughout both books you get the sense something very ugly damaged Kage. We start to get a little more into that. Basically the hot honeymoon period is over and the guys get to know the uglier side. Up until now it’s been lots of sex and need with some friendship. Kage has never had anyone to trust and now that they’re back together Jamie is determined to be there for him. This book was better than book one IMO. I’m much more invested in the characters to the point of obsession. I love this series!!! It has great characters. Their story makes you laugh and cry with amped up tension. And the sex scenes are smoking hot. It’s surprises me how into them I was. Onto book 3!
