Blurb: Linden Meadows doesn’t back down from anyone, especially if her family’s involved. So when her little brother’s new hockey coach benches him in the middle of a game, Linden lets him have it. She also notices that the coach is way hotter than she expects, but Linden won’t let herself get burned by another athlete. Been there, done that—and had a kid at seventeen to show for it.
When Jason Taylor isn’t taking abuse from hockey moms, he’s patrolling the streets as a member of the Bridgeland PD. After Jason pulls Linden over for speeding, he begins to see that there’s more to her than a big mouth . . . or a lead foot. Their chemistry leads to good company, intense conversation, and an intimacy that pushes beyond the boundaries of friendship. And yet Linden’s decision to keep her now three-year-old son, Holden, is a painful reminder to Jason that his own mother gave him up for adoption.
Linden’s sure she’s found the man to round out their family. But when Holden’s deadbeat dad forces his way back into the picture, Jason starts to back off. He needs time—to heal, to grow, and to love with all his heart.
Review: I’ve read some of the Pilot’s Hockey Series before, and I’ve always enjoyed them. This one was more on the periphery of hockey but included players from the past books.
Indie and Jason had a meet cute– she yelled at him at her brother’s hockey game. She was behind his back and he assumed she was a parent until he turned around and saw her. Bam! Instant list for Jason definitely, and I’m pretty sure issue admired his assets a little…
Indie has a lot of baggage. Pregnant at sixteen, with no support from the prospective father, aged decided to have the baby and keep him. Holden was her life, but at twenty, holding down a job while finishing college, she didn’t have time for anything like an attractive man in her life. But maybe she should make time?
Jason had never gotten over the fact that his birth mother had given him up for adoption. Even though his family was amazing and he was very happy, a little kernel of bitterness always threatened to bring him down. Was he going to let that ruin his chances with Indie?
This story was a fast and easy read. I would have liked a little more development in their relationship, and I really wish I’d been able to remember more from the previous books because I feel like i missed some things in the story line. Thanks!
