Blurb: In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder…
As a Motorcycle Club member and firefighter, Ian Walsh is used to riding the line between the good guys and the bad. He may owe the Club his life, but his heart rests with his fire station brothers…and with the girl he’s loved since they were kids, Rory Sorenson. Ian would do anything for Rory. He’d die for her. Kill for her. Defend her to his last breath-and he may just have to.
Every con in the Rockies knows Rory is the go-to girl for less-than-legal firearms, and for the past few years, she’s managed to keep the peace between dangerous factions by remaining strictly neutral. But when she defends herself against a brutal attack, Rory finds herself catapulted into the center of a Motorcycle Club war-with only Ian standing between her and a threat greater than either of them could have imagined.
Review: This is a really great series, and the comradery between the SAR team members is funny–and since I work with an organization that trains and acts as the state SAR–seems very realistic. I enjoyed meeting these characters in the first book and it was a sweet ride seeing them come together.
Rory had…let’s say, an unusual upbringing. Her parents were a bit on the paranoid side, and she barely escaped their final bout of crazy. She ran her gun shop right and dealt with her customers well, even the crazy ones. But she had absolutely no social life or friends. When was that going to change? It was lonely in her fortified bunker with just a dog to keep her company, but she had no idea how to change that.
Ian has been in love with Rory since he was thirteen. He wasn’t sure if she just hadn’t noticed him or if she didn’t like him. He was determined if there was going to be a man in her life, though, it was going to be him. But when the trouble started happening out at her place, he saw a chance to get close. Plus, he just couldn’t stand the thought of her getting hurt!
Fate took care of the circumstances of their getting to spend time together when Rory killed a butt-hurt customer bent on revenge. She’d noticed someone trying to get into the perimeter of her land at night; when she told Ian, he was determined to help. Luckily he was on hand when they got into the building.
Why was the local MC mad at her after years of smooth transactions between them? Why were they trying to break in and steal all her guns?
And why was Ian pursuing her? Didn’t he know that girls like her didn’t get boys like him?
Hot, sexy suspense with a little bit of gunplay on the side. For those who like their men a little steamy…
