Blurb: Through grace, talent, and hard work, personal concierge Sophie Ashton has turned international corporate warfare into an art. But when she meets her new client, a suave CEO who radiates masculine heat, she knows this is no ordinary job. With a past hurt fresh in her heart, Sophie tries to keep her professional relationships exactly that: professional. But Xavier Quinn is a man who knows how to get what he wants, and soon Sophie is tempted into his wicked dance of seduction.
Xavier needs Sophie’s charm and finesse to land a coveted contract with a Japanese tech mogul, yet he’s even more intrigued by her as a woman. He sees Sophie’s darkly sensual nature and can sense her passion. He wants to dominate her, more than he’s ever wanted anything before. He’ll make her submit, though he can’t give her his heart, not after the tragic death of his last sub. Xavier assures himself he can keep his distance from Sophie . . . but can he? He’s used to taking risks in work and in life, but the stakes have never been higher. Because the game he plays with Sophie will bind them together—or destroy them both.
Review: This was a very interesting read because the title, in someone like Cherise Sinclair’s hands, would have been quite different. The promise of kinky bondage was included in the story but in no way did it shape the characters or keep them from leading quite normal lives outside the bedroom. It was simply just another way to lead a love life.
Ashley Ashton, or as she wishes to be called, Sophie, grew up in foster care with her now three best friends. She’s had some hard knocks and is still recovering from the sad ending to a love affair from two years ago. Abandonment is hard enough when you’re raised in a normal family, but after being left by your parents as an infant or small child, I can only guess it would certainly affect your outlook on life in general.
So when new player Xavier Quinn shows up in town, eager to make a deal with the Nakamura industries, she’s determined to avoid getting tangled up with him, no matter how attractive he is. It’s going to be strictly business between them while she helps him get in contact with Nakamura. As a personal concierge, her job is to make her client be at the right place, at the right time, and to help them make the right impression. She’s great at it and has connections within the Japanese community that are going to help Xavier get what he wants. But they’re also going to lead her down a path into memories that will be painful for her. Can she handle both the memories and her quite intense attraction to Xavier?
Xavier is also incredibly attracted to Sophie but he also is coming off a sad relationship. He’s determined to use Sophie for both her interpersonal skills as a concierge as well as her obvious connections. But can he keep himself from getting drawn deeper and deeper into a relationship with her?
Intense attraction and combustible heat explode when Sophie and Xavier finally give in to their feelings. With all the memories each carry, though, can they make it through to the other side? Deliciously suspenseful surprises keep both the reader and the main characters constantly on edge in a high stakes game of negotiation where winning the deal might not be the ultimate prize.
