Blurb: In the heart of Scotland, this Highlander is about to meet his match in a brand new romance from bestseller May McGoldrick.
Highland warrior Alexander Macpherson has lost his wife. When he agreed to take Kenna Mackay as his bride to advance his clan’s power in the north, he expected a bit of an adjustment. He didn’t expect the sharp-tongued beauty to run away on their wedding night. Still, Alexander wants his runaway bride…and he has the sneaking suspicion that she wants him, too.
Kenna Mackay thought she was safe in a priory full of nuns learning the craft of healing, but when she is kidnapped by her own husband, the battle of wits begins anew. But even as passions ignite, a deadly secret from Kenna’s past rises to the surface and put their new love in jeopardy. As a heartless villain closes in, two headstrong lovers find themselves locked in a struggle between evil and the power of undying love. And this time, Alexander is determined he will not lose his wife again.
Review: Passion ignites in a tale as old as time, filled with paranormal intrigue and romantic suspense. I can’t wait to read more about this special place and the secrets of the three other tablet holders.
Jenna McKay ran away from an embarrassing scene her wedding night, and I don’t blame her. Who wants to wake up to find your bridegroom in bed with another woman? Getting pushed into the marriage like a piece of property by her father was bad enough, but getting treated so callously by her groom was the last straw. She might not completely feel like being a nun, but at least she was gone from that place.
Alexander Macpherson was a proud Highlander, and having a trick played on him by his brother Colin on his wedding night was irritating. But worse? His new bride got mad enough to abandon him. Now he looks like he can’t keep hold of his woman! When a series of events leaves him alone in the Scottish highlands with his runaway bride, can he convince her to give their marriage another chance?
With just enough suspense and magic to keep it interesting, this new series is going on my must-reads for summer and fall. I also enjoyed the secondary characters whose story also seemed to be traveling toward a HEA. Like all good Scottish tales, there’s some inter-clan politics and fighting with the English, of course, but at the heart of this story is a sweet romance where the two characters, joined in an arranged marriage, get a chance to know one another in a new and exciting way. Recommended read fit summer! Thanks
