Blurb: No girl can resist a man in uniform—especially if that man is Nate Riordan. But after an injury in the line of duty leaves Nate broken, body and soul, the soldier finds himself addicted to his pain meds, with no place to call home. Desperate for an escape, Nate reluctantly accepts a friend’s invitation to a new veterans’ retreat. Expecting a little R&R, Nate is shocked when the sight of his physical therapist opens up another old wound: heartbreak.
Years ago, Alia Drake fell hard for Nate, but never made her move. Instead, she set up her sister with the sexy, confident military man, a foolish decision that continues to haunt all three of them. Now, with Nate as her patient, she can make things right—even if it means getting too close for comfort. A healing touch and a little honesty work wonders, fueling a physical intimacy that crosses professional boundaries. This time, with desire in the air once more, Alia won’t hold anything back.
Review: This is a great story of lust, attraction and guilt; and of how they can all combine into a witch’s brew that ensnares your senses and makes bad decisions for you. These two characters were both misguided players in their lives and until they could ask for what they wanted, they were destined for lives unfulfilled.
Alia was so used to giving things up for her younger sister Becca that when she caught sight of the delicious man candy that was Nate, she immediately assigned him to her. She’d risked too much of her heart wanting her parents to love her–she couldn’t afford to add another rejection to the list–and she knew, looking at him, that wanting him would be too much for her. So she did what she did best; she gave him to her sister–and immediately regretted it. Years later, when Nate shows up injured at the center she works at as a physical therapist, is there a chance for her to atone for what she’d done? It’s had to imagine him ever forgiving her.
Nate was angry with both Becca and Alia for what they’d done to him. Becca “writing” him letters that were actually from Alia? That sucked. But worse? Finding out that the care package and the IMs that had felt so personal to him, like they really got him, were also part of the deception. Were they pretend too? He’d developed real feelings toward whoever had sent those–were they returned? Had Alia really meant those things? Or was it just part of the plan? Add that to the constant pain from his percussive injuries and incredible guilt he felt over his fellow soldier’s death? Total crap. He just wanted everything to go away.
When temptation becomes more than these two can take and they make that first move, how will they ever stop from falling all the way in…
Great descriptive passes that take your breath away with their lush sensuality. This book is awesome! Sweet, hot and sexy with a great story that will keep you hooked until the end. Thanks!
