Blurb: Alpha billionaire businessman, Max Savage has had a thing for Lucy Dare for as long as he can remember but he values his long-standing friendship with her brothers too much to cross the line. When Lucy shows up at an engagement party on the arms of another man, Max doesn’t like the changes he sees in her and vows to make her his own.
It’s now or never. Max can think of one way to convince Lucy she’s with the wrong guy. He’ll dare to seduce her … no matter what the consequences.
Review: Ooooh lordy, when I read Carly Phillips Dare to Seduce it was so freaking hot! For a contemporary romance that’s not erotic, it’s really got some heat. And since it’s winter, you know I’m looking to keep my tootsies warm, right?
I loved the interplay between Max and Lucy, and being inside his POV for big chunks of it gave this book that extra kick that I’ve always loved about this author. She’s not afraid to take you into the man’s thought process and emotions, and she does it so well and so realistically that it never feels fake or forced.
Max Savage grew up in a poor but loving family until one day they struck it rich–just in time for his teens. And just in time for him to move into the Dare’s neighborhood and grow up with Lucy and her older brothers. Unfortunately his parents got bogged down under the weight of their new financial and social obligations and their once close bond suffered. Max grew up feeling ignored and unloved, wondering what he’d done to make them stop loving him. And even though he’d always cared for Lucy, insecurity and self doubt had kept him from ever pursuing her, along with his fear that her brothers would not only disapprove of their four year age difference but wouldn’t want to be his friend anymore if he’d tried.
Now, four years later, he’s widowed and regretting the choices he’s made. At her brother’s engagement party, he sees Lucy with a boyfriend who’s treating her like crap. Why does she out up with it? He hates it; but what he hates even more is when Gabe and Decklan tell him they’d always thought he and Lucy would end up together–and that they approved.
What the h@ll has he been waiting for?
For me, this was one of the most balanced and creative of the series. Does that mean I’m a kinky bit$h who loves BDSM? Maybe. Try it, you’ll like it!
