Blurb: From New York Times bestselling author of Still the One, comes a sexy new Animal Magnetism novel set in Sunshine, Idaho, where the sky is the limit when it comes to love.
Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler.
Now she has to live and work with the guy. But when they’re in the air, she sees another side of him. He’s driven, focused, and sharp. And while he enjoys giving commentary on her blind dates, she quickly realizes with a shock that it’s Parker who gets her engines going…
Review: Nothing is more awkward than mistaking her brother’s friend for her blind date, especially since she kissed him…and then slammed the door on him. ACK! Now she’s got to try to live with the guy in the house with that hanging over her head like the sword of Damacles. What’s she going to have to do to make the thought of his sexy lips and hot body go away? Maybe thinking about what her brother would say? Crap! Not even that works…
Being on forced leave sucks, especially when the case is this important. Parker isn’t even supposed to be in Idaho, and he’s still recuperating from the injuries he got the last time he had a run in with this particular bad guy. Pretending like he’s on vacation and disguising the true nature of his job from his landlady isn’t something he’s comfortable with, but he’s used to not being exactly honest with people about what he does. Working as a special agent for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife agency tends to get him into more dangerous situations than anyone would suspect–especially when he’s on the trail of a dangerous criminal who’s got nothing to lose. But now he’s involving his good friend’s sister in his activities, and she could get hurt. That makes him feel like crap, especially since he’s starting to have feelings for her that go beyond what he usually feels for his casual hookups. What’s up with that?
Maybe because Zoe is a sweetheart that had to take on raising her sibs at an early age because their actual parents loved their jobs more than taking care of their kids? Maybe because he loves the fact that she’s trying all by herself to fix up that old tumble of a home their grandparents left them–and refusing anyone’s help, anytime? And maybe because under that smart-assed independence she wears so proudly, there’s a sweet woman who’s longing to love someone–and he really wishes it was him?
Filled with Shalvis’s trademark wit and heat, this romantic suspense is filled with great characters that you’ll love in a well-crafted story that’s sexy and sweet, tense and emotionally satisfying. Another one out of the park, Jill! Thanks!
