Blurb: Julian “Quinn” Quintero, a gruff, tough Miami SWAT officer, has been injured on the job, and all he’s looking for is a little peace and quiet to recover—difficult to achieve with his large Cuban family. An adventure in picking up his prescriptions puts him in the path of his geeky, brownie-baking neighbor, Spencer Morgan. Spencer sweeps into Quinn’s life like a tropical storm of sunshine and rainbows. Not surprisingly, it’s chaos at first sight. Quinn’s in need of a little tender loving care, and Spencer decides he’s just the man for the job. Their very different lives might clash, but they might also find some common ground—and maybe more.
Review: OMG. Can I say I LOVE this story!! I think it’s my absolute favorite of anything I read this week or probably this month! Delightful! Everything about it from the start to the finish, including the brownies, was perfect and funny and sexy and happy and just.my.favorite! I need more about this couple, Ms Cochet, STAT!
Quinn has been injured on the job while saving a little boy from what turns out to be his uncle. Go figure! He makes for a grouchy patient, and being laid up with an injured leg is getting really old really fast. He doesn’t like anyone coming around and checking on him, so when his medicine gets left at the neighbors instead of being brought to him, he’s pissed. However, it becomes painfully amusing as his trip into his neighbor Spencer’s apartment becomes a prat-fall filled voyage ending with him covered in cold water. All this just to get his pills? No thanks! His neighbor is weird but has a really nice a$$.
Spencer just about died when he turned around to find his handsome neighbor watching him dance in the kitchen in his underwear. WTF? Apparently wearing earbuds while he’s cooking might not be the best idea–but who knew this would ever happen? And of course, when he’s nervous he’s clumsier than usual, so…before he knows it, he’s not only kicked the man in his injured leg but fallen down on top of him. What an impression he must be making! Douching Quinn with water at the end was the pièce de résistance in gauche behavior. Poor Spencer!
How will they ever get past this? Food, of course! As Spencer follows his friend’s advice and plies Quinn with all the culinary wonders he can produce, nature follows its course. Their friendship turns into a romance, even though that’s hampered by the ugly behavior of one of Quinn’s SWAT buddies, Javier. Luckily Quinn’s sweet nature–inherited from his lovely Cuban-American family–is able to surmount Spencer’s embarrassment and coax him back into their relationship, and things start back on the path to love. ~sigh~ So sweet! (and now I’ll have a grudge against anyone named Javier!) 😉
Thanks for this wonderful story! I really enjoyed the heck out of it and hope there’s more about this great couple in the future. Thanks Charlie Cochet for making my day!
