Blurb: Secrets—and safety—melt under a midnight sun…

Liv Chandler is running for her life, and the cops haven’t been able to do a thing to help. But there’s one man who makes her feel safe, no matter what…rugged charter boat captain Rafe Brodie.

To Rafe, Liv is a beautiful mystery, one he can’t ignore. He means to unearth her secrets, and in the process, if luck is on his side, maybe the spark between them will ignite.

But Liv’s past is more dangerous than Rafe could guess, and when his first mate turns up dead, she fears that she’s next. That there’s something else coming she can’t see. That even Rafe and the remote village of Valdez, Alaska can’t protect her forever…

Review: They say everyone in Alaska is there for a reason–no one asks anyone else any questions. Olivia Chandler can really appreciate that since she’s a person on the run. Mistakenly blamed for her ex-husband’s murder, she’s had to change her name and identity and is hiding out in Valdez, Alaska. She’s purposefully avoided having close friendships or lovers for the past several years –it’s hard to let anyone close when you might have to pull up stakes and run at a moment’s notice. Plus, it would be difficult to hide the highly trained guard dog, the gun, and the taser under her pillow from her lover, right? So, it’s just easier NOT to have anyone there–even though charter-boat captain Rafe Brodie is sooooo tempting!

Rafe Brodie has been in love and lost before, so he’s a little gun-shy about falling in love again. But he’s crazy attracted to cafe-owner Liv Chandler. She’s gorgeous and independent, and he’s tired of her ignoring him. She thinks that she’s fooling everyone by dressing down and not wearing makeup, but he’s just the discerning type of man who can see how beautiful she is anyway. Subtly flirting with her gets him nowhere, but after his crewman Scott is murdered, she offers to help him nose around and try to find out what happened. Scotty was engaged to Cassie, who works at her cafe, so she’s also really concerned about what happened. But it isn’t until they become involved and he starts trying to get to know her better that he fully understands why she’s so interested in trying to find out the truth about what happened to Scott. It’s because she’s been blamed for a murder in the past that she didn’t do; she wants to make sure that doesn’t happen to the man being held for Scott’s death.

But so much more is going on in Valdez. What’s up with the two oddball tourists at the hotel? Why can’t they answer a simple question? And is the man in the old car who tried to rape Liv a part of her past? What is his connection?

It’s a puzzle, and Rafe and company have a limited time to connect the dots.

Intriguing and sexy, I really enjoyed this romantic suspense novel and plan on reading more from Kat Martin. Thanks!
