Blurb: Josh Tucker lives a blessed life—great job, great family, perfect husband, and two wonderful children—but a mysterious man named Adam who haunts his dreams and soon his waking life threatens everything when he stirs doubt as to whether any of it is real. Adam makes Josh question the world he’s taken for granted—as well as the origins of Adam himself.
Even if Adam’s claims are true, Josh has nothing to live for beyond his fabricated life—except the possibility of a real man out there somewhere who can love him. Josh is left with an impossible choice: stay in his delusion where he’s assured some happiness or take a great leap of faith for a chance to make a life with Adam.
Review: Josh Tucker has the perfect life. He has an amazing husband, two beautiful children, and a loving family. Well, in his mind he does.
Josh wakes from an awful nightmare – one where he has been shot and lays dying. He has no idea what would make him dream such a thing, but it soon fades, with the love and laughter of his family. Josh, his husband, and his two children are off to have dinner with Josh’s mother, brother, and sisters. Along the way they stop to grab some food. When Josh enters the restaurant he encounters a cashier that makes him feel things. Feelings that he doesn’t quite understand. As he’s walking away from the strange man, the man suddenly yells, for him to come back to him. When he turns around, the guy is gone and in his place is a young woman. This will only be one of the many strange things that start to happen to Josh. As nightmares about shootings, fires, and a man named Adam plague him, he starts to believe that he is going insane.
This was a very interesting story. The whole concept of a fake world in your mind, while the real world tries to break through, was pretty cool. I’d have to look, but I don’t believe this a plot that gets used very often. I’ve personally never encountered a story like this. So, for me it was a completely unique and original story. It was short and took me just over an hour to read, and it was completely worth that hour. The characters were very likable, the storyline kept me turning the pages till it was over, and it was something new and fresh to read. I really enjoyed it.
