Blurb: Devastated after his home is ransacked, Garrick Cross’s heart breaks further when he finds his rare, beloved Dean From Hell Vendetta guitar on an online auction. When he’s outbid, Garrick feels he’s lost everything. The police try to help him locate his stolen property, but the auction’s a done deal. His precious Vendetta is gone. After tracking down the man who beat him to it, Garrick asks if he’ll consider selling the guitar at a higher price. Reclusive collector Micah Drake declines, but finding Garrick attractive, offers a different price: a weekend in his bed. When Garrick turns to the officer in charge of his case, Mak Inoue, he finds more than just moral support.
Review: Garrick Cross has been having a hard time. He’s been dealing with his break up from his ex Brad, who after 8 years left him for their close mutual friend Joshua. And to top it all off, Brad has been turning all their friends against him. He’s been seeing a therapist, who as far as he’s concerned is a nut job. After leaving his therapist’s office he sees his beloved dog Cassady running through traffic. Once he is able to retrieve his dog, he heads home only to find his home is full of people, and they are cleaning him out of all his possessions. One of his thief’s tells him there was an ad placed on Craigslist, stating that his home was unlocked and all his stuff was free to anyone who shows up to get it. Can you imagine?? The poor guy lost everything he owned, including his very special Vendetta guitar. When the police finally show up, there is nothing left. But they do intend to start investigating what happened and will try to help him get his things back. Here is where Garrick meets Officer Mak Inoue. Mak will do anything he can to help Garrick retrieve his stolen items.
When Garrick finds out almost all of his things are posted on eBay, his friend Sarah decides to email the buyer of his precious Vendetta and see if they can’t get it back. The buyer, Micah Drake has his guitar and is willing to give it back to Garrick, if he will only spend one weekend in his bed.
That’s about as far as I want to go in my review. If I say too much, I could end up spoiling it. This book was awesome. My heart was literally pounding in my chest through almost all of it. It was very exciting. Trying to figure out what was going, who did it to him, and why. Then it came to the last 10% of the book and things started to feel rushed. Rushed, cheesy and a bit unrealistic. But not enough to ruin the story. After I finished, I went through my Kindle and found that I had never read anything by this author before. How that’s possible is beyond me, but if all her other books are this exciting, I will definitely be reading more.
