Faye’s Best of ’14

It’s time for the obligatory best of lists.  Okay, it’s a little past time.  I wanted to make sure I didn’t encounter something amazing at the end of the year and the crazy of the holidays is pretty much over.  So, without further ado, here are my favorite books of 2014 in no particular order.

1. Dirty Deeds by S.E. Jakes

Okay, so I’m a big Jakes fan.  This book had it all for me.  Intrigue, betrayal, heartbroken characters looking to protect themselves and find someone at the same time.  So, so good.

2.  Blood & Thunder by Charlie CochetBlood&ThunderLG

I love this series.  It’s got both shifters and men in uniform.  It’s Faye Bait twice over.  This was the book for me where the series jelled.

3.  Brooks Headley’s Fancy Desserts by Brooks Headley

I was blown away by this book.  The art and the writing style were almost like a punch to the gut in the way they spoke to me.  I could not put this one down.

4. Ample Hill Creamery: Secrets and Stories from Brooklyn’s Favorite Ice Cream Shop by Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna18405510

Get this book.  Make The Munchies.  You’re welcome.

5. Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails, with More than 500 Recipes  by David Kaplan, Nick Fauchald, and Alex Day

Has a HUGE number of recipes for infused alcohols.  Add that to the recommendations for a variety of reasonably priced base spirits.  Cocktails are categorized by base spirit.

6. Relief Valve by J.L. Merrow

I love this series.  Tom is a wonderfully unreliable narrator.  It’s charming, to say the very least.

7. Anchored by Rachel Haimowitz

Ugh.  This book made me feel!  This is the book you turn to if you want a Reading Experience.

8. When All the World Sleeps by Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock

This book was brilliant.  And I’m not saying brilliant in the way I usually sarcastically mean it about the things I do.

9. Mark Cooper versus America by J.A. Rock and Lisa Henry19549885

I fell in love with the adorable, vivacious, and vulnerable Angry Bunny.

10. The Dangerous Seduction by A.N. Bond

I should have hated this book.  I hate present tense.  Like Gollum level loathing.  We hateses present tense!  I overcame it for this book.

  1. Love that you have cookbooks on your list and yet in your photos you appear thin. Hate that! But love you 🙂 Will be checking out these books. Thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. I appear thin. It’s the appearance that counts lol.

I had a hard time staying with just a few cookbooks. Maybe for ’15 I’ll let myself include more.

  2. Great list… *sigh* Dirty Deeds… what a trip THAT was ❤ Own a fair few of the others you have listed – now I need to read them, and this has reminded me of that 🙂 Happy New Reading Year to you!! xxx

  3. Reading “When All The World Sleeps” now – OMG its killing me. That poor Daniel….. and Bel. WOW. I’m at about 60% now and I am just holding my breath to see what’s going to happen. Its been a totally wild ride so far. So fantastic!! Just exactly what I love in a book.

  4. What an intriguing list! Including the cookbook. The only one I’ve is a Dirty Deeds. Cha ching! (The sound of my new purchases being rung up) lol
